I am very excited and proud to announce all OpenPoint modules now work with Esri's Utility Network including our outage management system (OMS), asset management, work orders, inventory, design / staking, workflow, reporting and more. A key aspect is a new set of features that work with both traditional and branch versioned geodatabases to allow for more flexible work order and design / engineering changes. This includes even more intelligent rollback capabilities when unexpected things happen within named versions. Workflows around cancelled map and work order changes have also been greatly improved.
I've been talking to utilities of all sizes and there's been a consistent theme of interest in implementing Esri's Utility Network capabilities. Esri has been working on this technology for over 10 years (while ArcGIS Pro was still in development). The technology has made great leaps and bounds in its capabilities and usability. I spent some time creating a new electric feeder from scratch and was able to get it working without too much difficulty. I especially appreciate the improved changes to the troubleshooting tools!
If you don't know about Utility Network, check out this 20 minute video from Esri. In a nutshell, it's Esri's powerful and flexible technology platform for handling connectivity and tracing using an underlying network model of your system.
We'll be updating our website and product information to reflect this change in the near future. If you would like to learn more about OpenPoint's Utility Network support, please feel free to contact me any time.
